About Iranian Association

The association was established as a registered charity in 1985 and was initially known as West London Iranian Association. During 1980s IA offered advice on issues such as immigration, housing and benefits to the refugees and organised cultural events. Having identified a need for Skills For Life courses, the first training programme of IA was organised in 1990 developing the skills of refugees, migrants and ethnic minorities. Building on the existing work in the area of advice and guidance, the centre launched a new IAG project in April 2002. Iranian Association was re-registered as a charitable company in July 2007. This change has allowed IA to offer its services to a more diverse range of clients and run new activities.

The association has been running a number of projects in response to between 15000 and 20000 inquiries per year. Over the last 20 years around 5000 students have completed various courses at the centre. During the same period around 600 volunteers have been supported by Iranian Association.

Iranian Association has been accredited by Matrix since December 2002. The association is approved by OISC for providing immigration advice and accredited by Community Legal Service (CLS) for offering General Help. The centre achieved Investors In People standard in 2007 and was reaccredited in 2010. Furthermore, the association has also been compliant with PQASSO and has offered further education courses that have been compliant with the Common Inspection Framework.
